{College Seniors} Roll Tide!!

I’m coming out of semi-retirement to share some photos from a very recent photo session.  These two friends and roommates are lovely – both graduating within less than a month from the University of Alabama!

I would share more words, but I have to be up within a matter of hours and I need to get some sleep… honestly, though, there’s not much to say, because pictures speak 1,000 words anyway!  These two are just beautiful…and so much fun!!  See for yourself….

This Thing Called {Life}

It’s been a LONG time, hasn’t it?

I just wanted to give a quick update to anyone who might stumble upon my website.  Since my last post, LIFE has happened – in the summer, we added another baby to our family, and I’ve kept adding irons to the proverbial fire.  I’ve continued photographing families and children on a limited basis {with profuse apologies for not finding time to blog them!}, but toward the end of last year, I started feeling that I needed to let some things go.   It’s been a difficult decision, but at the beginning of this year, I decided that, during this season of life, I am no longer going to take new clients.

I’m leaving my website up, for now, because it’s a portfolio of something I have truly enjoyed doing over the past several years.  All the people I have met and connected with through my photography are so special to me.

And who knows? Maybe one day, when I’m out of this season of life and into a new one, I’ll pick back up.  But for now, I’m closing my business and enjoying this time with my family.

And I encourage you – enjoy the time with your family.  Capture it and treasure it, forever.

Miranda Gunlogson - I don’t know if you will see this, but I’ve been thinking about you for quite a few years now but haven’t ever been able to find you. I’d like to catch up sometime and see how you’ve been doing.September 30, 2019 – 1:03 pm

{Sweet Child} Tara + Payton = Jake ~ Montgomery, Alabama Maternity & Newborn Photographer

These two.

So happy and ready to be parents.

In this post, you will get a “two for one” special because that’s how things happen these days…I’m so busy and want to be able to share everything I possibly can. And there is no leaving out this sweet, new family!

Tara contacted me around the middle of her pregnancy and inquired about my Belly to First Birthday session collection.  This collection includes 4 sessions – scheduled at various points from maternity through the baby’s first birthday.  They are some of my favorite sessions because I really get to know a family!  Some moms choose to skip the maternity session, but I certainly love when they don’t skip it – it’s such a special time.   Tara had decided to go with the maternity session…and I’m so glad she did!

Tara and Payton were just so sweet together – and it was such a fun first session.  We met early (early…dark’thirty kind of early) one morning at Fort Toulouse. I’d actually never photographed in that location and we wanted to make the most of the beautiful morning light.

We caught the sun coming up and I thought it was the perfect setting to celebrate the impending arrival of their first baby, Jake.  I just got a great feeling from these two…their love for each other and for the life they were getting ready to bring into the world.  I knew they would be great parents.

Fast forward a few weeks and Tara texted me to tell me that their sweet baby, Jake, had made it into the world!

To say that I was excited is an understatement of the grandest kind!

I like to photograph newborns sometime within the first 14 days of their life.  Usually, we work around the time that the new family comes home from the hospital – we schedule a tentative time and date, and then whenever they’re settled and ready for me to come to their home, they give me the go ahead to come on over.

I just loved meeting Jake for the first time and watching Tara and Payton in action.  They were so calm and collected.sides6sides7

And Jake was a sleepy little thing!  When I first arrived, he was asleep…and Tara informed me that he is a super fantastic sleeper.  That sort of statement usually jinxes a session…and when Jake woke up and was wide awake for the first few minutes, I thought that would be the case.  Then Tara decided to try changing and feeding him…it took a little while, but little Jake finally got comfy and sleepy. And then, there really was no waking him up!  Now, I’m going to hush and let you finish out this post by enjoying Jake’s photos.sides8sides9sides10sides11sides12

Payton & Tara, a huge congratulations to you both!  I hope you enjoy this preview of photos and cannot wait to see what this next year is going to bring for your sweet family!

{Sweet Child} Will’s First Year ~ Montgomery, Alabama Baby Photographer

Well, hello there! I am so far behind on blogging photo sessions and thought I might take a little time to get caught up as I am able to. You see, last year, my husband was deployed and away from home for a little more than 7 months. It was a crazy year and I didn’t take on very many new clients. The photo sessions that I did schedule were never blogged because I simply didn’t have the time. I’ve learned that sometimes some things have to be let go and…unfortunately, this blog was one of them.

Case in point, this precious little guy, Will. His mom contacted me last year and decided to go with my 4-session portrait collection that would carry us through Will’s first year. We started when he was just a couple days old and finished up this past week, ON his first birthday! Since I never got the chance to blog his individual sessions, I wanted to do a catchup post to show some of my favorite photos from his sessions.

It is amazing to me how fast infants grow and I LOVE my First Year portrait collections because I get to document this growth and change.

Will is the most precious little guy who has the most kissable cheeks (reminds me of my own oldest kiddo) and the sweetest personality. I have enjoyed every single photo session with him!

Now…enjoy this overview of Will’s first year.

I do accept that these skill are a part of us. We just have to learn to tap into that part of ourselves. Any and everything that is within the human mind is possible.July 20, 2016 – 10:31 am

barauszahlung kreditkarte - Certainly. Had OS/2 2.0 been released in 1989-1990 as originally planned, it might have (might have) staved off the need for DOS extenders before they became truly mainstream. But OS/2 2.0 was late and problematic, and NT 3.1 wasn’t any better. Windows 95 was really what eliminated the need for DOS extenders (including for games) and that took a long, long time.One of the last major DOS extended applications was id Software’s Quake – released in mid-1996, nearly 10 years after the arrival of the first 386 PC!October 19, 2016 – 12:44 pm

{I Do} Billy & Monica ~ Alabama Wedding Photographer

If you’ve been part of my blog for very long, you’ll know that I have been photographing Monica and her precious children since her little boy was just a baby.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoy seeing them every year and how. much. fun. it’s been to watch the children grow.  And Monica is one of those clients-turned-friends that makes me thankful for the doors my job opens into the lives of other people.

So…big news!  Since the last time I blogged about this sweet family, Monica met a super-fantastic guy and last June, they tied the knot!….she and Billy were married in California with their most immediate family attending the small ceremony.  But, they also wanted to celebrate their marriage with the rest of their extended family and friends!  So, soon after they were married, they began planning to renew their vows and host a reception, a year later.

For their special day, Monica and Billy secured the most lovely venue – StoneWood Farms in Tuscaloosa, Alabama – and the entire day was completely perfect.  In fact, beautiful – though it’s a completely inadequate word – was the theme for the day. I know I have a tendency to get too wordy, so I should probably stop and just let the photos speak for themselves.  <3

{Before I forget, many thanks to Patrick Jacks for being my right hand man throughout the day – and, among many other things, braving the roof for the awesome shots from above the ceremony!}

So let’s start, shall we, with the most beautiful day of the year….

Billy and Monica, congratulations to you both!  You are such special people and I am so happy for you and the happiness you’ve found with each other.  Thank you for letting me be part of your special day – such an honor it was to capture moments you can hold forever!  I wish many years of health and happiness to your sweet family and can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of you. Kblog51Kblog52Kblog53
