I want you to meet my youngest brother, Johnathan, and his fiancee, Tessa. You may remember when I photographed them last year. They are the sweetest couple…just unique and fun. They are a photographer’s dream, because they aren’t shy and definitely not afraid to try new things… to be sweet or silly while the camera is pointed at them.
I tried to choose just a couple of my favorite images, but “a couple” turned into “a bunch” really quickly. So let me take you through our time together last Saturday.
First, we started at a soda shop in my hometown. As a sidenote, if you ever visit the infamous Unclaimed Baggage, First Monday, or just want a trip to one of the most beautiful spots in the entire country (if I must say so, myself), you must stop in at Payne’s for a chicken salad sandwich, a bag of cheddar sour cream chips with the special “house dip,” a cherry sprite, and a chocolate malt. Of course, you can get something different….that is just my recommendation.![]()
But I digress…
We stopped at the soda shop. At the risk of another digression, I will tell you that I have 3 siblings, and of the 4 of us, I am the only one who did not work at Payne’s in highschool. So, this place is special for Johnathan.

Just outside of the drugstore, is this awesome, faded Coca Cola advertisement, painted across two brick walls.
We had our fill of downtown Scottsboro and headed out for a picnic-photo excursion in the foothills of Tennessee – only a 45 minute drive from my parents’ house. The scenery was beautiful…as were these two…

And then we drove a little farther, to a place called Cowan…where there is an awesome train museum, bed & breakfast, and vintage gas station.
Oh! But on our way up there, look what we found!
Finally, we made it to Cowan…and the skies were dull & gray…and really looked like they were about to open up on us, so we didn’t waste any time getting down to the business of more pictures…

There were some awesome trains on display…

I started sprinkling and we ran into the bed and breakfast and found a fabulous couch for a few pictures…
The rain stopped again, so we ran back outside for just a couple more shots before calling it a wrap.

Congrats, Johnathan & Tessa! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you!!
