Contrary to what you might think, I actually photograph the occasional wedding. Portrait work remains my very favorite thing – babies, families, bridal, children, engagements, and I could go on…but I do love a good wedding. And back in October, I photographed one of the most beautiful, unique weddings, ever. The bride, Crystal, and her groom, John, planned a very touching, intimate ceremony at the University of Alabama Arboretum – a place that is very special to them as a couple. As I took her bridal portraits before the wedding, Crystal explained to me that she and John had spent a lot of time together at the Arboretum, and felt it was the natural thing to do to get married there!
I completely agree, and think you will, too.
And I will share more about the location as we go through some of the photographs from the day…but let’s start at the beginning.
I took Crystal’s bridal portraits the day of the wedding, at the place that John proposed to her – which would also be the reception location.
As you can see, she showed up looking absolutely radiant and in love!
This photo was taken close to the park bench where they sat when John proposed…
Crystal has great features…beautiful eyes and a wonderful smile, to name just 2 of them! My goal was to capture those features…as well as to show what a sweet, beautiful person she is, on the inside, too!
Look at this beautiful detail…she loved her flower, and it went just perfectly with her dress!
And her shoes! Aren’t they fabulous?
And, of course, a beautiful ring completes the ensemble!
Once I left Crystal, she went to relax before the wedding…and I headed over to the Arboretum to capture a few of the details…which were simple and beautiful:
Guests would wind their way through the forest to the spot of the wedding – guided by white tulle tied to trees.
…as well as signs guiding the way…
Until we got to the beautiful amphitheatre in the middle of the forest. Crystal had arranged for a simple arbor to be set up on the stone platform – other than that, the decorations were the setting, itself. It was a quiet, perfect spot for a wedding.
And look who I found, when I got there! I think you will agree that Crystal has a most handsome groom:
Next up…the happy couple together!
Thanks to my good friend, Cindi, who second-shot with me that day…taking pictures, running around, and being the general list keeper!
