Do you like my graphics? I want to share someone with you…
Several years ago, my husband and I started
the adoption process to bring home a child (whom we would later find out was a precious son ~ but that’s a whole other story for some other time) from Russia. We wanted a way to keep family and friends updated on what was going on. Afterall, none of us had never been through the process…so it would be a great to update and educate at the same time. Now, at the time, I had only recently heard of this concept of a blog…so I decided to give it a whirl. Little did I know that our family would enjoy following us on the web to bring home our aforementioned precious little boy…and that I would learn about tons of other Russian adoption blogs through the process.
Alas, something was missing. My blog was…boring.
So I went out on a limb and emailed the author of one of the blogs I had started following. Her name was Elle…she was a bit farther along in the adoption process than we were (she ended up bringing home a pretty precious little boy, herself!). And she had a cool. blog. It was pretty. I just emailed her to find out how she had made her blog so pretty, and she told me that she would be happy to help me. In fact, she didn’t charge me a thing to give my blog a complete facelift.
I’ve since learned a little more about graphic design and HTML and all that good stuff, so I can do facelifts of my own, from time to time…but I still use the original code that she created for that blog.
I’ve stayed in touch with Elle – she has a blog and we have what is known as a blogger friendship. Well, she is an awesome artist/graphic designer and started a cool new business using her talents. About 2 years after her original help, when I decided to go public with my photographs, I emailed Elle again and asked her about designing a site for me – graphics and everything.
She did, and it was totally awesome! You can see the actual site – my former blogsite – here. Anyway, I immediately fell in love with the graphics she had designed – it was so exciting to have something that represented my style – fresh, fun, and unique.
I wanted to let you know about her…because she’s a really well-rounded artist – from sewing (she custom-designed & sewed a super cool diaper bag for me to give my sister-in-law as a baby gift) to graphic designing, she is everything I wish I could be. And I would love for you to check out her site to fulfill any artistic needs you may have. She won’t let you down!
