{Sweet Family} Allison, JT, & Boys ~ Montgomery, Alabama Family Photographer

My friend, Allison, is such a special person to me. She and I go waaaay back to our childhood…we went to different elementary schools, but once we hit middle school, we became fast friends. (I can’t believe that I am old enough to be able to say that she and I have been friends for about 20 years!) Once we graduated from highschool, I moved away, and we pretty much lost touch for a couple years. On the occasional trip home, I would see her, and we would pick right back up where we left off – we just have that kind of friendship.

Anyway…I got married, she got married, and then one day, Nathan (my husband) and I found ourselves living back in my hometown. I don’t really remember the order of events, but one evening, Allison & JT (her husband) invited us over for dinner. Alli and I were a little nervous – afterall, we knew we were friends, but would our husbands be okay with each other, too? Our anxiety was for naught…Nathan and JT hit it off immediately, and the four of us spent a lot of time together during that time in life.

Nathan and I ended up moving away, again, and we don’t get to see Alli & JT much anymore. We both have added children to our families, and stay very busy. But when we DO get the chance to spend time together, it’s as it always has been: picking up right where we left off.

Last weekend, we were home for Easter, and Allison had asked me about taking pictures of her boys.  Of course, I jumped at the chance!   I’d hoped to be able to get outside for some photos, but the weather was just, simply put, yucky.  So we opted for a relaxed, in-home session that turned out really well!

Here is Alli’s first-born, Cohen…

Followed closely by Cash…

Allison is a great mother – full of such love for her two boys!

Brothers are so very special…

One day, Allison will look at her teenage boys’ stinky feet, and then look back at this photo and remember what sweet toes they once had.

I love to capture mothers holding and interacting with their children.  As I was shooting this series of photos, I got quite a few of Cohen’s expressions.  Precious Cash was just happy to be there.  And I told Allison that I would entitle this series, “Motherhood:  full hands and a full heart.”

And then, JT took a break from chatting with Nathan to join us.  I LOVE this photograph…

And a few last photos to wrap up our session:

Allison & JT, thanks for letting us come hang out with y’all…we had a fabulous time (as always!) and thoroughly enjoyed your precious boys!  Can’t wait to see you again soon!

{With Child} Andree’ + Victor ~ Montgomery, Alabama Maternity Photographer

I am so excited to tell you about my Belly to First Birthday photo session collection!  This collection is a series of 4 photo sessions, beginning with a maternity session, followed by newborn, 6-month, and 1 year sessions…which is perfect for parents who want to document the first year of their baby’s life.

And with that, I would like to introduce you to Andree’ – she is my newest “Belly to First Birthday” client, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to get to know her and her handsome husband, Victor…and to be able to follow them for the first year of their new baby’s life!

But let’s not start wishing life away before the baby is even born!  It’s a boy, and this is what he looks like before….

His mama is incredibly beautiful & very excited…

I think his daddy might be a little excited, too!

Ahhh…the anticipation…

It’s hard to believe that the next time I see Andree’ & Victor, I’ll be meeting their newest bundle of joy!

I can hardly wait!

{Oh, Baby!} Rylee ~ Montgomery, Alabama Baby Photographer

I was in Tuscaloosa a few weekends ago, and had a photo session with this precious baby.

I probably don’t even have to write much, because the photos speak for themselves, I think.  Rylee loves her mama and daddy, for sure!

She is an absolute doll who seemed to just enjoy being outside.  We met at the President’s mansion on the UA campus, and she was all smiles!

I love baby hands…it’s amazing to me to think that my hands were once this small.

As you can see, Rylee came prepared, with hair accessories!

We tried some tummy photos, and after I snapped this one, Rylee decided she would reeaaaallly rather not have to hold her head up, so instead of fight her on it…

…we went straight on into some family photos.  Rylee had the best time, bouncing up & down…up & down…up & down!

What trip to UA campus – especially among big ‘Bama fans – is complete without a photo with the Quad & Denny Chimes in the background?

And last, but not least, just one more photo of Rylee’s sweet face!  She is definitely the apple of her entire family’s eye!

Amy Stiles - you did an amazing job on these!!! wow! and what a beautiful, precious baby 🙂March 30, 2010 – 2:54 pm

{With Child} Christen & Chris ~ Montgomery, Alabama Maternity Photographer

Christen is my husband’s youngest first cousin’s wife…you know, one of those relations that sounds convoluted, but really isn’t. And aside from the fact that we like her because, you know, she was smart enough to marry into the family…she’s also such a sweet person. She’s one of those people who is impossible to not like!

A few weeks ago, she was in her final couple weeks of pregnancy, and we happened to be home, so it worked out that I was able to take maternity photos for her. She has since had the baby, and while it hasn’t worked out for us to see him – in person – yet, I fully intend to remedy that situation very soon!

In the meantime, enjoy some photos of the sweet baby before he made his debut…

April Beasley - Love these! Great job Melissa!March 28, 2010 – 6:12 pm

{The Perfect Day} Len & Kiddos ~ Montgomery, Alabama Family Photographer

I’d love for you to meet Len…

She’s an amazing mom – works fulltime, goes to school, and loves these two….

…her fantastic 2 kiddos, Mason & Lauren…

We scheduled a photo session several weeks ago, but the weather got super cold and snowy [in south-central Alabama, no less!] so we had to postpone a couple times. When we finally were able to get together for their photo session, we really couldn’t have asked for better weather! It was cool, sunny, and altogether a perfect day.

A perfect day for siblings to be sweet to each other…

A perfect day for a precious little girl to run and jump around happily [seriously, she had so much energy and wasn’t still for one moment, which makes my job more challenging but oh-so-perfectly-enjoyable!]…

A perfect day for a family to spend some quality time together…

A perfect day for a little boy to be amazed at how many photos I took of him…

Just a perfect day…with a great little family.

…one of life’s many pleasures.

[Thanks again, Len, Mason, & Lauren!  I SO enjoyed myself and can’t wait to see you again!]

Sarah - What a beautiful family and precious children! These are great pictures!March 22, 2010 – 11:13 pm
