{Fun Family!} Alex, Eileen & Kids ~ Montgomery, Alabama Family & Children Photographer

Hello there…it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been keeping very busy and just have had little time to devote to posting to my blogsite.

But I wanted to take a few minutes to post photos from a session I had with an awesome family last weekend. Alex, the dad, contacted me – he has 3 kiddos…his daughter is still at home but his boys are all grown up and in college. But, they were home for the weekend. Once kids start flying the nest, family photos become harder and harder to get…so since the kiddos were home, Alex thought it might be a good opportunity to grab some family photos.

Naturally, I agreed. 🙂

So we got together in the park for a family photo session and I had a great time getting to know this family!

Alex and Eileen seem to be awesome parents.  They’ve brought up some awesome kiddos.

There’s Barrett,

and Aaron,

(it was Aaron’s birthday and his girlfriend, Mary, came along for the shoot)

And there’s Tyler, too.

This is a seriously great family.

with lots of love to go around…

…and plenty of teasing, too.

These kids were so funny together – and they were such good sports!  I enjoyed seeing their relationship in action.

A mother’s love is so special.

Annnd….at the end of the photo session, everyone had a quick clothing change.

MSU Brothers!

MSU Family!

Alex & Eileen, thank you for sharing your family with me – I had a great time getting to know y’all and hope your team has plenty of wins this year! 🙂

{I Will} Jarred & Aubrie ~ Montgomery, Alabama Engagement Photographer

Jarred and Aubrie.

These two make me smile.

See, Jarred goes way back with my family.  There’s so much I could say, but really – this isn’t my story, so I’ll keep this part short.  Many years ago, before we had children and when we lived in Tuscaloosa, my husband and I became friends with this young (okay, we were ALL young back then!) medical student who was in our young adult group at church.  His name was Jarred…and although he was sort of quiet, we became good friends…bonding over takeout, American Idol and House, M.D.  I would even say that he became sort of like a brother to both of us – he’s the guy that – if he showed up for Christmas dinner, neither my or my husband’s family would bat an eye.

Even after we each went our separate ways, we’ve stayed in touch with him and still get together for a yearly beach getaway.

Earlier this summer, at our beach weekend, he introduced us to this awesome girl, Aubrie.  At the time, they hadn’t been dating for long, but we were thrilled to meet her.  Jarred and Aubrie have one of those interesting stories of having been connected, quite some time ago, by a mutual friend, but nothing ever coming of the connection.  Then, by some awesome twist of fate, they reconnected and…voila! We immediately approved (not that it was up to us or anything!) and the rest, they say, is history.

A couple weeks ago, my husband’s cell phone rang.  On the other end of the line was Jarred, calling to tell us some awesome news…..he had proposed to Aubrie.  Best of all……she said YES!

But of course she did!!

And when they asked me to photograph their wedding, you know I was super thrilled!

Jarred has caught him a beautiful girl.  She’s truly lovely…both inside and out.

I couldn’t be happier for either of them!  And now, I shall hush and just let the photos take care of the other 10,000 words I’d love to say.

Jarred & Aubrie – thanks for getting up super duper early on a Saturday to make this photo session happen – and for letting me be part of the beginning of your life together.  I really am thrilled for y’all and am SO looking forward to 9/22/12 (Aubrie — NOT 12/22/9 ;)).

Patricia Fowler - Wow-these are great! They make a wonderful match. My husband and I have known Aubrie since she was a little girl. We are so happy for her and Jarred too!August 6, 2012 – 9:55 pm

{Sweet Baby} Mason: Take TWO! :) ~ Montgomery, Alabama Children and Family Photographer

If you’ll remember…earlier this month, I met little Mason and his big brother, Brady, and his mom, Julie, to take Mason’s one-year photos. His aunt Tracy’s son, Matthew, was also along for the photo session, but the weather had turned bad before he was able to get into any of the photos.

So, earlier this week, we finally got to meet again for a “Take Two” of Mason’s one year old portraits, as well as to get some photos of the rest of the gang.  The whole week, leading up to the photo session, the forecast was calling for significant rain and/or afternoon thunderstorms.  Julie and I crossed our fingers, HARD, hoping that the weather would be better for us this second go around.  Fortunately for us, I will say that the weather was MUCH better-behaved this time!! Of course, it was still hot and humid, but that’s pretty typical for a late July evening in Alabama!

Mason and Brady are still just as cute as they were at our first attempt at our photo session…Julie is still just as beautiful, and Matthew is still as handsome.  I loved getting to know these guys, sweating together in the heat, and capturing their sweetness!

So now, I’ll hush and let you enjoy Mason and his beautiful family!

Mason has the biggest, prettiest brown eyes.  And yep, the cute curls…they’re still there!

Big brother, Brady also has big, beautiful brown eyes…I’m told he had cute curls when he was 1, too.  But he’s since outgrown them.

Mason’s grandmother came along to help and what a big help she was!  I could tell Mason loves her a lot.

Mason was none too happy about having to stop playing to take photos with his mom and brother, but even when he’s frustrated, he’s just so completely precious!

And here’s Matthew!  The big cousin that both little guys just ADORE.

Mason has such a funny personality!

I think this next photo speaks volumes – and the loudest thing coming through is that Mason was just about DONE.  I couldn’t blame him, though…the heat and humidity finally got to him, and he was definitely tired of being a great sport!  🙂

Mama love. <3

Sweet cousins!

Julie & Tracy, thanks SO much for sharing your handsome guys with me – I hope you enjoy seeing these photos as much as I had taking them!!

{Five Years} My Sweet Iliya ~ Montgomery, Alabama Children Photograper

Five years ago, my husband and I went to court in Vladivostok, Russia to complete the adoption of our first son, Iliya. It was a wonderful day…though I can remember the time before he came home, when every day felt like an eternity.

After we went to court, we went to the orphanage for the last time and brought him into our lives as an active 20-month old with these precious cheeks and awesome personality.

And then, five years just flew by and we now have an active 6-year old…still with precious cheeks and an awesome personality.

He has these beautiful eyes and a smart little mind of his own.

Often pensive, always thinking of his next question.

As handsome as he is, he rarely enjoys being in front of the camera.  He’s the child that causes me to, when folks tell me that their 2 year old is difficult to photograph, look at them with a knowing smile and say I’ve got this. 🙂

But then there are moments, when I convince him to just stop feeling like he HAS to smile, and to think of something he thinks is funny.

In this case, he visualized a funny scene involving Uncle Sam.

And OH, to have his eyebrows. So expressive, as they always have been.

So yeah, if you ask me if I love him, I will say “of course I do!”

And I’m thankful, every day, for him and his place in our family.

Iliya, I love you, little guy!!

Jane Robertson Whatley - He is sooooo gorgeous! LOVE that face! Happy Family Day!July 23, 2012 – 4:07 pm

Sarah Cunningham Housley - I love the one where he’s covering his eyes and the one below the comment you make about his eyebrows. I can’t believe how quickly he’s grown!July 29, 2012 – 6:22 pm

{Sweet Baby} Mason: Take One! :) ~ Montgomery, Alabama Baby and Children Photographer

It has been dry and HOT here.  And humid.  Leave it to Alabama to afford such…ahem…beautiful weather in the summertime!   So when Mason’s mom, Julie, and I talked about scheduling his one-year photo session, rain was {truly} the last thing on our minds!

This was my first time meeting sweet Mason…and, thanks to a summer storm that popped up, not my last!  Within 15 minutes of beginning the photo session, a huge cloud rolled overhead and the wind picked up like you wouldn’t believe.  It got a little scary, with branches falling and lightning flashing in the distance.  So we decided to call it a day and reschedule the rest of the session for another day.

Despite the weather, I thoroughly enjoyed myself!  And I have to tell you, this Mason is a cutie pie in every way…and I can’t wait to see him and his family again!

Look at those curls.  Be still, my heart!

And that smile.  So precious!

This next photo shows 2 things: how much Mason’s mama loves him and…just how windy it was that afternoon!

I even got a couple of photos of big brother Brady before we had to cut the session short.  I can’t to see more of him, later, too!

Julie, thanks for sharing your precious boys with me for a few minutes – can’t wait to see y’all again!

Till next time…!

Julie Franks Moore - Thank you Melissa for posting these! They are great! Can’t wait to see more next session when the weather cooperates (hopefully!).:)July 12, 2012 – 8:25 pm
