{I Do} Missy + Bobby = Married! ~ Montgomery, Alabama Wedding Photographer

Missy and Bobby are such a wonderful couple…when I met them, I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding. They are simply great and I had a suspicion that their wedding was going to be just like them — FUN!

Guess what? I was right.

Missy was an absolutely beautiful bride.

And she was attended by 6 lovely bridesmaids.

The flowers Missy chose were so vibrant and colorful.  They fit her personality perfectly.

Her groom, Bobby, was handsome in his tux.

And he was accompanied by a group of guys who clean up quite well.  (The day was sooo very hot, we only got outside for a very few photos.)

Missy and her mom seem to have such a sweet, special relationship ~ not to mention, they look so much alike!

Several years ago, Bobby’s mother passed away…her small Bible has been passed through the family as her kids have gotten married.  April, Bobby’s sister (and a precious personal friend of mine), was the last person to receive the Bible on the day she married her husband.  On this special day, she passed it on to her almost-sister-in-law, who will pass it on when the next person gets married.  Such a special and timeless tradition!

Missy and Bobby’s ceremony was beautiful…and so was Missy’s dress.

Bar none, this is my favorite photo of the day.  I completely love the look on Bobby’s face, as he sees his bride for the first time.

After the ceremony, we braved the heat for just a few minutes to grab some photos of the bride and groom…

…and their super fun wedding party!

Missy and Bobby make a lovely couple.

Missy’s dress makes me think of Belle, from Beauty and the Beast.

I really thought the flowers Missy chose for her cake were perfect – to me, it’s hard to beat live flowers.  Especially lilies!

The groom’s cake was the most delicious thing I think I’ve ever eaten.  Bobby is a huge University of Alabama fan (Roll Tide!) and not only was his cake pure chocolate and peanut butter…it had a great UA theme.

Some of his family thought it would be hilarious if they created a faux groom’s table ~ you know, to confuse the staunch Alabama fan.  So, before the reception began, they snuck in, put the groom’s cake away, and replaced it with this…

Complete with tiny toilet paper rolling tiny Toomer’s Corner.

During their first dance, Bobby caught a glimpse of something just a littttle bit off.

It really was quite funny – a true show stopper!

Missy and her dad had a very sweet Father-Daughter dance.

And then it was Bobby and Missy’s turn again and they invited others to the floor.

Here are a few reception highlights* ~ there was a lot of line dancing (I’m beginning to think I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t have that particular skill!)

*special thanks to Patrick Jacks for his help during the wedding and reception!

On our way out, I met the folks who had been decorating the car…and, of course, had to snap a few photos of that.  I must say, they did quite a good job!  I wonder if anyone actually “honked” at Missy and Bobby when they left?

To close, I thought I would rewind to earlier in the day.

Missy and Bobby are such a special couple…and I know they have many years of wedded bliss ahead of them!!  Guys, thanks SO much for letting me be part of your very special day…I had a blast, and it looks like you did too!  Congratulations!!

Tannen - Great pics Missy!! I love the ones of you walking down the aisle with your dad where you get a clear shot of all the billows (don’t know the technical name for that) in your amazing dress. Lots of strikingly beautiful pics – and fun too!!September 1, 2011 – 12:37 am

Bobby & Missy

As usual, I’m a bit behind on blogging photo sessions. Okay, okay. I suppose you could say I’m really behind…I stay up-to-date on my editing, but because I usually have so many irons in the fire, I don’t get around to posting until much later. I am going to have to do better about that…but in the meantime, I have someone(s) for you to meet. A fabulous couple whose engagement photos I would love to share before they actually get married!

I’d love for you to meet Bobby…

and Missy.

They are 2 of the coolest people and when they contacted me about shooting their wedding, I was very excited! As part of their wedding collection, we decided to take engagement photos. As a graduate of the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), Bobby really felt strongly about taking the photos on campus. As a graduate, myself, of UA, I completely understand the sentiment!

So, that’s exactly what we did.

As you can see, Missy got the perfect red dress to go right along with the Crimson Tide feeling of these photos.

We started out at the President’s mansion and worked our way around the Quad, hitting several of the main landmarks around. My favorite is Denny Chimes.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be photographing their wedding this coming weekend. Missy will be a beautiful bride and Bobby is going to be a handsome groom.

And I just bet that after Saturday, they will live happily ever after!

Where I’ve Been

There’s a good reason, this time, that I’ve been away from my photo blogsite…and really, my business, altogether.

I’ve been out of the country for a month.

Specifically, I’ve been in Russia with my husband and our older son…finalizing the adoption of our younger son.

Yes, literally.  About 3 days short of a month.  And then, once we got back home, we’ve been working hard to get settled in. All things considered, things are really going quite well.

See?

If you would like to read more about our journey as a family, feel free to check out our family blog.  I’d love to have you join me!

And guess what else?  I’m about ready to get in the swing of things again.  Do you need photos this summer?  I have a few openings in July and August, and I would love to meet you!

A Beautiful Writer ~ Montgomery, Alabama Portrait Photographer

Hi!  Remember me?  Yes, photographer and author of this blog – nice to see you again (that is, if you’re still reading!).  I’m ashamed at my absence, but I just can’t bring myself to fully apologize…I guess that you could say life has been so very incredibly busy lately, and with the way things have been going, I might be out the door again before the proverbial ink has dried on this post..so why bother?

So, without apology, or further ado, I want to share with you one of the most beautiful people I have ever met.  No, really.  A couple months ago, I got SO lucky to have the opportunity to photograph an up & coming YA author, Sharde Richardson.  She needed a few headshots for her website, and I was elated to be able to take photos for her!

And now comes the part where I hush and post the photos. 🙂

Sharde’s beauty seems to start from within and just make its way outward.  She was such a joy to spend time with!

Sharde – thanks for allowing me to capture a few moments with you…it was such a pleasure meeting and getting to know you!
